Chocolate Almond Butter-A Recipe

Chocolate hazelnut butter has been a staple in our house for a long time but recently I took a long look at the ingredients and decided that we could do better. I went with almonds since they are a superfood and inexpensive to buy in bulk.


  • 2 cups almonds
  • 2-3 T honey
  • 2 T cocoa powder
  • pinch of salt
  • 1+ T coconut or almond oil

Step 1

First, put the almonds into the food processor or blender. Run it intermittently for about 10 minutes or until the nuts transition from chopped to a paste to sticky to the consistency of peanut butter.

Make sure to keep scraping down the sides of the bowl.

Step 3

When you reach nut butter consistency, add in the other ingredients. Add in the coconut oil in it's liquid state for better consistency, one tablespoon at a time.

Ours took 2 tablespoons to reach the desired consistency.

When you're done, taste test it and put it in a jar.
