Lunchbox Treat: Rice Cereal Critters

You know those collections of Pinterest fail pictures you see everywhere? Our version of Martha Stewart’s craft probably belongs there except for the fact that my daughter had so much fun and both kids loved having the treats in their lunches. Let’s stipulate to the fact that we are not Martha and do the best we can. Adapted from Martha Stewart’s Favorite Crafts for Kids, find it here. Help keep our resources for families with special needs free! We have recommend products which were used in the production of this recipe. You can purchase these products through the Amazon Smile program, with Project Autism selected as your Charity of Choice, allowing us to receive a donation from Amazon for every purchase you make.

Ingredients

  • A batch of crispy treat mixture - Smile Link
  • Extra butter for your hands
  • Scissors
  • Assorted candy (After checking 5 stores for gumdrops, I’m not giving you Martha’s list. Do the best you can.)

Purchasing with Amazon Smile enables The AmazonSmile Foundation to donate 0.5% of the purchase price from your eligible AmazonSmile purchases to a charity of your choice.

Step 1

Roll the cereal mixture into balls for the body of your critter. Have your kiddos only grab cereal from the top of your bowl, the middle and bottom will still be pretty hot.

Step 2

Decorate as you wish.

Step 3

My daughter says this is a monster.

Step 4

She loved this activity. She also ate her weight in candy while doing it.

Step 5

These are our best critters. I’m not showing you Martha’s.
